"Out in Space" - Thinking in Planes

Instructor: Aloma Marquis

Everybody knows that collages are 2 -D right? Well, who said so? That is one of a creative person’s favorite questions. On Aug 8, from 5:30-7 pm we’re going to find out. We’re going to pull those 2-D collages out into space and make them 3-D. Well start with a 2-D coll and gradually add layers until it projects out into the viewer’s space. You’ll experiment with how to compose and integrate 2-D and 3-D elements until they become one unified composition.

Bring interesting magazines, decorative papers and any ephemera (defined as something of no lasting significance, usually on paper) discover how it can become a vital part of an artwork.

Instructor: Aloma Marquis

An accordion isn’t just a musical instrument. It’s also a handmade book form consisting of a single sheet of paper or a series of joined sheets that are folded in a zigzag pattern.

You will learn how to make the basic form and begin to discover how the structure of the accordion book is an essential part of the content of your book. Think of what you want to communicate. You don’t have to use words. There’s no end to what you can do with this book form. Come and find out!
